Introduction: Unlocking Insights from Data
In November 2022, Synonym launched Capacitor - a comprehensive database of microbial fermentation facilities worldwide. This past February, Synonym released its first State of Global Fermentation Capacity report to highlight the scope and diversity of existing fermentation capacity.
A few months ago, we launched Scaler, a cutting edge techno-economic analysis engine, that allows users to rapidly understand product unit economics, commercial readiness, and the key parameters driving profitability. Scaler provides a mechanism for the industry to understand the economics of the entire value chain: direct costs of product production and costs for the facilities that manufacture the product.
With this version of the report, we have updated the name to the "State of Global Fermentation" to reflect the new insights from Scaler. If Capacitor sheds light on what capacity the industry wants, Scaler provides insights on the capacity that the industry needs.
